Eid-Ul-Fitr 2025: March 31 & April 1 declared as public holidays in Ghana

The Government of Ghana has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

This announcement, made by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), follows an Executive Instrument (E.I.) issued by His Excellency, the President of the Republic.

Eid-Ul-Fitr, the Islamic festival marking the end of Ramadan, falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

However, in line with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), and in the interest of the public, the government has extended the holiday to Monday and Tuesday to allow for nationwide celebrations.

Muslims across the country will use the period for prayers, feasting, and community activities to mark the end of a month-long fasting and spiritual reflection. Citizens are encouraged to observe the public holidays accordingly.

This move aligns with Ghana’s tradition of recognizing religious and cultural diversity through national holidays.
