President Nana Akufo-Addo has reassigned COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah to the Ministry of the Interior, where she will now serve as the Technical Advisor to the Honorable Minister.
A letter dated March 19, 2025, from the Office of the President, signed by Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., formally conveyed the directive, stating that the reassignment takes immediate effect. COP Addo-Danquah is expected to liaise with relevant authorities to ensure a smooth transition into her new role.
The letter emphasized President Akufo-Addo’s recognition and appreciation of COP Addo-Danquah’s dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the nation. It further expressed confidence that her expertise and commitment would continue to serve the country effectively in her new capacity.
The announcement comes on the same day that newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Yohuno, introduced a major shakeup in the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service. The restructuring, which affects several high-ranking officers, is aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening security operations, and ensuring effective leadership within the service.
COP Addo-Danquah, a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in law enforcement, has previously served in various leadership roles within the Ghana Police Service. Her reassignment is seen as part of broader efforts by both the Presidency and the Police Administration to restructure key institutions and improve security oversight in the country.
