The Africa Institute of Governance and Security (AIGS) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno on his appointment as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service.
“Your swearing in on March 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s security landscape, and we are confident that your extensive experience spanning over four decades and proven leadership will usher in a new era of transformation and modernization within the service,” AIGS said in a statement on March 15.
The statement signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah further acknowledged the “remarkable legacy” of the former IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
“Dampare’s tenure as IGP was defined by an exceptional commitment to disciplinary leadership that reshaped the Ghana Police Service. His emphasis on professionalism, internal accountability, and community engagement not only restored public trust but also set a high standard for law enforcement in Ghana.”
AIGS said initiatives under Damapare’s watch, such as enhanced police visibility and rigorous anti-corruption measures, is a testament to his gallant leadership.
According to the AIGS, Dr. Dampare will be recognized “as one of the most impactful IGPs in recent history, whose contributions will resonate for years to come.”
“To you, IGP Yohuno, we wish you strength, wisdom, and success as you take on this critical role. Your track record of operational excellence and dedication to public safety inspires confidence that you will build upon the solid foundation laid by Dampare while steering the Ghana Police Service toward even greater heights. May your leadership foster peace, security, and justice across our beloved nation,” the statement added.
