“Ghana nation needs urgently victories to go to the World Cup. We need the support of all Ghanaians, especially GA chiefs to support us in our task so that the whole of Ghana can be happy and everybody will be joining us if we go to the World Cup.”
The team’s abysmal performance in the 2026 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where they failed to qualify for the tournament for the first time in two decades, has left a sour taste in the mouths of Ghanaians.
However, the Black Stars are doing well, sitting pretty at the top of Group I alongside Comoros with nine points, courtesy of back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).
The upcoming qualifiers are make-or-break for Addo, whose underwhelming performance has sparked widespread criticism and calls for his exit.
The pressure is mounting, but the under fire coach remains optimistic, counting on the support of the Ghanaian community to turn the tide.
With Ghanaian players abroad firing on all cylinders, Addo will be hoping to capitalize on their form to overturn the nation’s fortunes in their quest to secure back-to-back World Cup qualifications.
The 49-year-old is expected to announce his squad for the crucial World Cup qualifiers this week.
Ghana will face off against Chad on February 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar in the final match of the March internationals.
It’s going to be a nail-biting ride, but with unity and support, the Black Stars might just defy the odds and bring home the coveted World Cup ticket.
