Arsenal defender William Saliba is hopeful his side can win a first-ever Champions League title after they secured a place in the last eight of the competition on Wednesday night.
Heading into their second leg game against PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates, Arsenal held a 7-1 advantage after a dominant first leg display.
A host of changes from Arteta in the ‘dead rubber’ tie saw Kiwor take the place of Saliba in central defence alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw on the night, securing a 9-3 aggregate win to progress to the Champions League quarter- finals.
For the second year running, Arsenal have made the last eight of the competition.
The Gunners were eliminated from the quarter-finals at the hands of Bayern Munich on a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.
After booking a last eight berth, Arsenal will take on defending Champions Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
The Gunners are without a Champions League crown and are yet to feature in the final of the competition since 2006.
Irrespective of this, Arsenal defender William Saliba believes the openness of this season’s competition can see the Gunners pull off a surprise.
“Everyone wants to win the Champions League. It is really hard to win. We all believe we can do it,” he told the club’s media.
Arsenal are one of two English sides in the competition, with Aston Villa the other.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Paris Saint Germain and Dortmund are the remaining teams vying for the coveted trophy.
