The Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Mr. Afetsi Awoonor has extended his support to the people of Agavedzi, a coastal community in the Ketu-South Municipality severely affected by recent tidal waves.
The donation, which was done on his behalf by his personal assistant, Mawuli Felix Gomado, includes essential relief items such as rice, cooking oil, exercise books, and pens.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Gomado conveyed Mr Awoonor’s sympathies to the victims, acknowledging the devastating impact of the tidal waves.
“Mr Awoonor understands the pain and difficulties you are going through, and he wants you to know he stands with you in this difficult time. This donation is a token of his love and personal commitment to supporting communities in need, and he hopes it brings some immediate relief to the affected families,” Mr Gomado said.
Receiving the items, the Assembly Member of Agavedzi, Mr. Eben Assah expressed his deep appreciation to Mr Awoonor. He used the opportunity to call on other philanthropists to come to the aid of the affected communities and also pleaded with the president to expedite steps to commence the continuation of the sea defence project to avert a more devastating impact that looms.
The tidal waves, which swept through Agavedzi and nearby communities, Amutinu and Salakope, left many residents displaced, destroying homes and livelihoods. The donation by Mr Awoonor adds to ongoing efforts by philanthropists and the government to provide relief and long-term solutions to this recurring devastation.
