The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo- Markin has said he is not the first Minority Leader to have access to Police Outriders.
He recounted that former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu had it. Similarly, former Nandon MP Dr Benjamin Kumbuor had it.
Afenyo-Markin said this after denying ever driving around with 50 military convoys following him.
He said that assertion can only be the figment of someone’s imagination.
“I have never had 50 military convoy follow me,” Afenyo-Markin said on the KeyPoints on February 22.
His comment was in reaction to an allegation by the Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor that, “A Majority Leader used to drive around with 50 military convoy following him.”
Although Mr Dafeamekpor did not mention Afenyo-Markin’s name, Mr Kpebu, another panelist, specifically named him as the Majority Leader under reference.
The discussion was on privileges enjoyed by state officials.
Mr Afenyo-Markin who called into the programme said as the Majority Leader, he is entitled to the services of Police outriders.
“I am not the first Minority Leader to have access to Police outriders, Haruna Iddrisu had it, Benjamin Kumbuor had it. It is because of the nature of the job. You are required to be here and there. The use of outrider facilitates the process,” he stressed.
