The UEFA Champions League last 16 draw has produced several blockbuster encounters, with Liverpool set to face Paris Saint-Germain and a Madrid derby between Real and Atletico taking centre stage.
Liverpool’s meeting with PSG marks their first encounter in the competition since the 2018-19 group stage, a campaign that ended with the Reds lifting their sixth European crown.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be up against Kylian Mbappé and company in what promises to be an electric tie. The winner of this fixture will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, record 15-time champions Real Madrid take on city rivals Atletico Madrid in a highly anticipated showdown. The two teams have a fierce history in Europe, having met in the 2014 and 2016 finals, both won by Los Blancos. Diego Simeone’s Atletico will be keen to rewrite history and knock out their rivals this time around.
Elsewhere, Arsenal will battle PSV Eindhoven for a place in the last eight, where they could face either Real Madrid or Atletico. Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen will go head-to-head in an all-German clash, while Barcelona take on Portuguese giants Benfica.
The two-legged last 16 ties will be played on 4-5 March and 11-12 March, setting up a thrilling start to the Champions League knockout rounds.
