Former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has expressed his readiness to make the significant leap into taking up a role as a first-team head coach.
Boateng, 49, has garnered invaluable experience working as a youth coach from 2018.
Since beginning his professional journey as a coach for Kelantan in 2014, Boateng has steadily risen through the coaching pyramid.
The former Dutch international’s coaching career has been shaped up with inestimable experiences at Aston Villa’s U-23 and Blackburn Rovers’ U-18.
Boateng’s most notable job, however, came in 2022 when he was appointed as an assistant to Ghana coach Otto Addo during the 2022 World Cup.
Despite the Black Stars making an early exit from the competition in the group stage, the Dutch-born Ghanaian enriched himself, adding further sheen.
Irrespective of his know-how, his last coaching job was a rather forgettable one, lasting for only four months as Coventry’s first-team coach.
Notwithstanding, the ex- Black Stars assistant coach believes this is the opportune time to venture into the role as head coach.
“I have done quite a lot of learning and developing myself as a coach . And now, I feel like I’m ready to be a head coach,” he told Soccer Africa.
Boateng’s confident remark is well in-line with his vision, as he has been shortlisted as one of the potential coaches to take up the vacant Blackburn managerial job.
