The Effutu Municipality of the Central Region has recorded nineteen (19) new cases of cholera.
Additionally, 894 contacts have been traced by health officers.
The Municipal Director of Health Services, Paulette Brown, who revealed this to 3News.Com expressed worry about the continuous surge in cases though the new patients, according to her are not in precarious conditions.
While health workers put in strenuous effort to save the lives of those who have tested positive to the disease, contact tracers are having severe challenges with mobility, making their work cumbersome.
“It is worrying that we are recording new cases instead of the cases going down. With 19 new cases recorded if we are not careful it will stretch”- Paulette Brown, the Director of Health Services observed.
However, she has renewed the commitment of health workers to contain the situation except that information sharing on the part of residents according to her is a challenge for fear of stigmatization.
Municipality has been a hardest hit area in the outbreak of cholera in the Central Region. This new data puts the total number of positive cases above 30 with three deaths recorded.
