The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has directed its members to prepare for a nationwide industrial action scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The planned strike is in protest against the continued tenure of Samuel Adom Botchway at the Births and Deaths Registry, despite previous government assurances that he would be removed from office.
According to CLOGSAG, Mr. Botchway’s participation in the office’s budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, confirms that he remains in his role—contrary to government commitments.
In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, the association emphasized that the strike will proceed as scheduled unless their concerns are addressed.
The statement urged all members to hold themselves in readiness for the industrial action, reaffirming their stance on the issue.
CLOGSAG has consistently advocated for the removal of Mr. Botchway, citing concerns over leadership and governance within the Births and Deaths Registry.
The government is yet to respond to the latest development.
