The rerun of the North East Region Council of State Election concluded today, with Saska Abuba emerging as the winner. Abuba secured a total of 7 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Asabigi San Malunga, who received 5 votes.
This outcome effectively resolves the previous tie that led to the necessity of the rerun. The deputy regional director of the Electoral Commission announced the results, affirming that the election was conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.
Meanwhile, there is also a rerun of the election in the Ashanti Region after chaos marred the earlier election leading to a suspension.
The venue for the council of state elections re-run in the Ashanti region was moved from the regional coordinating council to the Prempeh Assembly.
This move was to prevent any upset and disruption of the election. As expected, security has been beefed to prevent any activities that may disrupt the process.
86 delegates are expected to vote to elect the regional representative on the council.
