Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu is pushing for an independent panel to conduct a value-for-money audit on the Saglemi Housing Project, insisting that the case should not be closed without proper scrutiny.
He said the case, which involves a former Minister for Works and Housing, Collins Dauda, needs further prosecution.
His comments come after the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, withdrew some high-profile cases involving appointees of President Mahama’s previous administration.
Referring to the Saglemi Housing project, Mr Kpebu said, “The Collins Dauda situation cannot die like that. No! With the payment of about $200 million, and we are getting just 1,500 houses? We must ensure we get value for money before moving on,” he stated on TV3’s KeyPoints on February 15.

Kpebu suggested that Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) such as CDD-Ghana, along with independent experts, should be included in the review process. He warned that if the current administration does not pursue the case fully, a future government may have to reopen investigations.
“We must get to the bottom of this; otherwise, I will be leading the charge for a reinvestigation when a new administration comes in,” he added.
The Saglemi Housing Project has been at the center of controversy over alleged misappropriation of funds.
