Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah has asked the contractor handling the Afari Military Hospital project in Kumasi to come to Accra for a meeting to discuss the project’s completion.
This followed the Minister’s visit to the hospital site on Friday 14th February, 2025. The visit was aimed to assess the project’s progress and address the encroachment issues affecting the land.
During his over one and half -hour tour of the facility, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed concerns about the project’s six-year delay, stressing that the government cannot accept such a significant setback.
He touched on the importance of completing the project, which started in 2014, to provide quality healthcare services to the people of the Ashanti Region and beyond.
The Minister pointed out that the government is committed to resetting Ghana, including the healthcare sector, and aims to complete the Afari Hospital project by the end of September, 2025.
He assured that the government will engage with the contractor, Euroget, to resolve any disagreements and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Dr. Omane Boamah’s call on the contractor to meet with him in Accra, is therefore to finalize the project’s completion. The Minister emphasized his commitment to completing the project, stating that he is serious about getting it done.
Dr Omane Boamah was accompanied by the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, alongside the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene.
