A tragic incident occurred at dawn in Axim, Western Region, as a man believed to be 45 years old, Joseph Richard, allegedly set his lover, Betty Herman’s house on fire after she requested for a breakup.

The fire left his lover’s two children with severe burns.

The unfortunate incident happened while the children were sleeping in the room.

The victims, identified as 16-year-old Joseph Ben and 13-year-old Richlove Asiedua Yeboah, were asleep when the blaze caught up with them around 3:00am. They have since been transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for specialized medical care.

Eyewitnesses claim that Richard set the fire in an attempt to harm the children after his lover, Betty Herman, threatened ending their relationship.

Some relatives and residents alleged that threats from the suspect’s mother influenced his actions.

They are now calling on the Police and the public to assist in locating and arresting Richard, who is currently on the run.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the case.
