A member of the Convention People’s Party, Kwame Jantuah has said the Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed must provide reasons to Ghanaians why former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s home was raided by men in military uniform on Tuesday, February 11.
Speaking in an interview on TV3’s New Day, Friday, Mr. Jantuah condemned the raid on Ofori-Atta’s home and called on the Interior Minister to apologise to Ghanaians.
Although, the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga has apologised for the raid, Mr. Jantuah believes his apology does not suffice as the issue lies within the ambit of the Interior Minister.
“It pains a certain picture when the President is concerned and you hear opposition talk about it is Mahama. He might not know nothing about it. Was he advised? Was he told that thing was going to happen?
“So Interior Minister should come and explain to us why it happened. The Majority leader apologizing on behalf is not enough. Come and tell us why it happened.
“Does it lie in the mouth of the Majority leader to come and apologise. I believe it’s the Interior Minister who is responsible for security services. I felt it was the Interior Minister who should have come to Parliament to tell us why it happened,” he said on February 14, 2025.
Mr. Jantuah further moted that in a democratic dispensation, the use of military for civilian arrest is a prohibited act.
