Dr David Kofi Wuaku, one of the thirteen candidates for the upcoming Council of State election in the Volta region says his mission is to represent the voices of the people of the Volta region at all levels of government with the ultimate objective to drive real development that benefits every community in the region.
Though the role of the Council State is an advisory role, the conversation in the Volta region about who represents the region on the Council has been centered largely on the impact the individual will make on the region’s development.
At a press briefing to announce his candidature, Dr David Kofi Wuaku who describes himself as a ‘dedicated son of the region’ believes he has enough experience to represent the region.
“With over 20-years of experience in the banking sector and a decade as a consultant across various industries, I have built strong networks in finance, investment, and governance that will enable me contribute to the development of this country and the Volta region in particular.”
Dr Wuaku is promising to work closely with all stakeholders including MPs from the region, Chiefs and the Assembly members to pull the necessary infrastructure that will open job opportunities for the youth in the areas of IT, Engineering, Agrobusiness, among others.
Dr Wuaku is also focused on leading the advocacy for the transformation of the region’s tourism industry, expansion of educational infrastructure including TVET education aimed at changing the region’s local economy.
The Council of State election is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 February, 2025 with 36 persons making the Electoral College for the Volta region expected to participate in the election.
