Mahama accepts 2nd Deputy BoG Governor Elsie Awadzi’s request to retire early

President Mahama has accepted a request by the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi to proceed on early retirement.

This is Contained in a press release signed by the Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on February 7.

“President John Dramani Mahama has accepted the decision of Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi to take early retirement from the Bank with effect from 28th February 2025,” Mr Ofosu wrote in the terse statement.

He added that, “The President thanks Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi for her distinguished service to the Bank and the Republic and wishes her well in her future endeavours.”

Mrs Awadzi’s request comes after Dr Ernest Addison, immediate past Governor of the bank proceeded on terminal leave.

He has been replaced by Dr Johnson Asiama.
