Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson, former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bole Bamboi, has filed his nomination forms for election as Savannah Regional representative to the Council of State.
He submitted his forms to the Savannah Regional Electoral Commission office in Damongo on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, following the announcement made by the Electoral Commission (EC) that the election of Regional Representatives to the Council of State will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, across all regional capitals.
The Commission has invited interested individuals to submit their nominations to the respective EC Regional Directors during working hours between Tuesday, January 28, and Friday, January 31, 2025.
Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson, who served as DCE from 2009 to 2013, after a brief review of his documents, was cleared by the Deputy EC Director, David Acheampong, to contest.
Tingawura, who again served as the Eastern Regional Director for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), sometime ago emphasized his commitment to leveraging his connections with the President to bring more development to the Savannah region, should he be elected.
“I’ve had extensive experience working with various government agencies and NGOs. Given my background and strong ties with President John Mahama, especially coming from Bole, I believe I can easily meet with him regularly to advocate for the Savannah Region’s development”, he categorically stated.
Adding that “What the region needs now is development, and I’m the right person. Someone who can connect directly with the President to push for the changes we desperately need”.
He urged fellow candidates to support his candidacy. “I urge all candidates elected from the district to come together and support me in this crucial decision. With their backing, I can effectively advocate for the Savannah Region whenever I have the opportunity to meet with His Excellency”.
With a strong blend of traditional leadership and administrative experience, Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson stands as a formidable candidate for the position. He is currently the first to submit his nomination for the Council of State election.
The Council of State plays a crucial advisory role in Ghana’s governance, offering guidance to the President on key national issues. It comprises the Chief Justice, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, the President of the National House of Chiefs, elected regional representatives, and eleven members appointed by the President.
