The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has apologised to Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister-designate, following a misunderstanding over the scheduled time for the latter’s vetting.
Dr Omane Boamah arrived later than expected for his vetting on January 28. This prompted the Minority Leader to rebuke him for being late.
It later emerged that the delay was due to a miscommunication regarding the time communicated to the nominee.
After completing his vetting, Dr Omane Boamah received a formal apology from Mr Afenyo-Markin.
“Dr Omane Boamah, in the morning, I made certain comments with regards to the lateness, it seems there was a miscommunication about the time that was given to you. So I want to unreservedly say sorry to you,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stated at the end of Dr Omane Boamah’s vetting.
The Defence Minister-designate graciously accepted the apology.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Bernard Ahiafor also added his voice to the apology.
