The one-week celebration of the late Teddy Osei, a founding member of the iconic Ghanaian music group Osibisa, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 30, at his family house in Chirapatre, Kumasi.
The event, which is a traditional Ghanaian ceremony to mark the one-week anniversary of a person’s passing, will bring together family, friends, and fans of the legendary saxophonist from 6:00am-6:00pm.
Teddy Osei was a key figure in Osibisa, one of the most influential African bands of all time. With their unique blend of Afrobeat, rock, and jazz, Osibisa gained international recognition and acclaim in the 1970s.
He died on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025, aged 88.
Osei’s musical legacy began in his hometown of Kumasi, where he discovered his passion for instruments at a young age.
