President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has announced his clearance to contest for a position on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.
The announcement, made via his Facebook page, confirmed that he had successfully passed CAF’s mandatory integrity test.
“Thrilled to share that I have been cleared to contest for a place on the Executive Committee of CAF, after successfully passing the integrity test. Excited for what lies ahead. May God guide us through this journey!” Okraku wrote.
Okraku, who is contesting unopposed on the ticket of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), is set to be confirmed as a CAF Executive Committee member during the Elective Congress scheduled for March 12, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt.
His candidacy aligns with a broader vision of enhancing African football governance and leveraging his experience at the helm of the GFA to make an impact at the continental level.
The Elective Congress will be a decisive moment for African football, as it will not only confirm Okraku’s position but also feature key elections, including that of the CAF President and FIFA Council representatives for the 2025–2029 cycle.
Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the incumbent CAF President, is running unopposed for a second term, while high-profile candidates from across Africa are vying for limited slots on the FIFA Council. Notable names include Sierra Leone’s Isha Johansen, Egypt’s Hany Abou Rida, and Tanzania FA-backed Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
