Taptap Send, a leading global remittance platform, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to support cultural and development initiatives through fee-free remittances.
The partnership was unveiled during a courtesy visit by Taptap Send’s Growth Director, Darryl Mawutor Abraham, to the Manhyia Palace on January 24, 2025.
Accompanied by Otumfuo Mamesenehene Nana Barima Osei Kwadwo II, the delegation met with the Asantehene to discuss leveraging remittance technology to further the Kingdom’s development goals.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Abraham expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We are thrilled to partner with the Manhyia Palace, an institution that represents both cultural heritage and a forward-looking vision for development,” he said.
“This initiative aligns with Taptap Send’s mission to remove barriers for diaspora communities who wish to contribute to meaningful causes back home.”
Through this partnership, Taptap Send will eliminate fees for remittances directed toward the Palace’s projects. The move ensures that diaspora contributions directly fund impactful initiatives, including education, infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural preservation. As part of its commitment to community-led development, Taptap Send has also launched a new feature called ‘Charities’, which allows users to support vetted projects with ease. One such project, Heal Komfo, spearheaded by the Manhyia Palace, is featured on the platform. Customers can contribute directly to these causes, with the assurance that all funds go toward community development.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II lauded the partnership as a vital link between the Asante Kingdom and its global diaspora.
“This partnership serves as a bridge connecting our people abroad to the development of their homeland. It also demonstrates how technology can enhance our ability to preserve and promote our cultural identity while building for the future,” he stated.
Taptap Send’s innovative approach to remittances has made it one of the fastest-growing money transfer platforms globally, offering affordable, instant transfers to underserved markets. This partnership with the Manhyia Palace reinforces its commitment to corporate social responsibility, financial inclusion, and community impact.
To further emphasize its dedication to local development, Taptap Send donated 150,000 Ghana cedis to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, supporting healthcare delivery in the region. This contribution complements the platform’s broader mission to drive meaningful change through strategic partnerships and investments.
As remittance flows to sub-Saharan Africa are projected to exceed $800 billion in 2025, this collaboration highlights the transformative potential of financial technology in connecting diasporas to their homelands and fostering impactful development.
Taptap Send’s partnership with the Manhyia Palace not only cements its reputation as a leader in fintech but also showcases the growing role of cultural institutions in driving sustainable community growth.
