Leicester City manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy has dismissed concerns about his future, despite the Foxes enduring a seven-game losing streak in the Premier League under his leadership.
The club is languishing in 19th place, two points adrift of safety, after a 2-0 defeat to Fulham last weekend.
Van Nistelrooy, who took over from Steve Cooper in November, has faced increasing pressure, with just two wins in 10 games across all competitions. However, the Dutchman remains resolute about turning the club’s fortunes around.
“I’m focused on getting this team out of the situation; that’s my only concern,” he said. “In tough times, you need to be strong, show character, and remain committed. I see spirit and fight in the team, and if we continue, this run will end.”
Leicester’s next test comes against Tottenham on Sunday, where a defeat would match their record for consecutive league losses, set in 2001.
Meanwhile, Van Nistelrooy has ruled out the possibility of Wilfred Ndidi leaving the club amid interest from Monaco. The Nigerian midfielder recently signed a new three-year contract and is close to returning from a hamstring injury.
“No, of course not,” Van Nistelrooy responded when asked about Ndidi’s availability. “Wilfred is a key player and person in the squad. We know how much we’ve missed him, and he is vital in helping us move forward.”
With mounting challenges on and off the pitch, Van Nistelrooy remains determined to steer Leicester clear of relegation danger.
