The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has called on the leadership of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), after assuming office on Thursday, January 23.
The GRA and the CAGD are key agencies under his supervision as Minister for Finance.
Dr Forson charged them to discharge their duties with diligence and innovation; and work tirelessly to exceed expectations and leave a lasting legacy of fiscal discipline and national development.
Prior to his meeting with the GRA and the CAGD, the Finance Minister held a brief inaugural meeting with top Management of theMinistry of Finance where he expressed his pleasure being back at the Ministry and stated that he deemed it a great privilege to serve the people of Ghana.
Dr Forson also shared that his priority was the betterment of the lives of Ghanaians, through job creation, prudent fiscal management, exchange rate stability, and reduced inflation.
He stated: “We are here to work together to better the lot of the people of Ghana; indeed we will constantly be mindful of the needs of Ghanaians.”

President John Dramani Mahama had told Dr Cassiel Ato Forson that Ghanaians are expecting him to stabilise the Cedi and bring down inflation.
Speaking after swearing his minister into office at the seat of government in Accra on Wednesday, January 22, Mr Mahama said “To you Dr Ato Forson, Ghanaians expect you to reduce inflation, make life more comfortable.
“They expect you to bring the national public debt to sustainable levels, they are looking to you to stabilise our currency and to bring down inflation.”
