The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the commencement of the nomination process for the election of Regional Representatives to the Council of State, as stipulated under Paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution.
Eligible candidates are required to submit their completed nomination forms along with two copies of a recent bust-sized photograph against a red background showing their full face and ears.
Submissions will be accepted at the respective Regional Director’s offices from Tuesday, January 28, to Friday, January 31, 2025. The forms can be submitted between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the specified dates.
According to the EC, candidates must secure a proposer and seconder, both of whom should be registered voters in the region. Additionally, the nomination must be supported by 20 other registered voters from the region, and the candidate must provide written consent for their nomination.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the EC’s official website, www.ec.gov.gh, and must be completed in triplicate. Completed forms should be submitted to the Regional Director at the designated locations within the stipulated timeframe.
In a statement signed by the EC chairperson, the election of Regional Representatives will take place in all regional capitals on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
