The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no grounds to criticise the administration of John Dramani Mahama, according to Professor Ransford Gyampo, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana.
He asserts that the NPP’s poor performance during Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration demonstrates a lack of governance expertise.
Speaking on The Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, January 11, 2025, Professor Gyampo criticised the NPP for attempting to fault an administration that is less than a week old.
“The relevance of the NPP now won’t lie in its failed officials quickly criticising Mahama’s administration when they themselves have demonstrated no clue about governance,” he remarked.
He disclosed rejecting a document presented for his expert review, which centred on opposition criticisms of Mahama’s administration.
He advised the NPP to focus on rebuilding its fragmented party, leaving critiques to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and independent experts.
“You must focus on rescuing the soul of your party and leave constructive criticisms to those with permanent interest, not permanent friends,” he added.
