National Women’s Soccer League side Gotham FC have announced the signing of Dreamz Ladies captain Stella Nyamekye.
The 2024 playoff semi-finalist was transferred for an undisclosed amount. She is awaiting the completion of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Her contract runs out in 2027 with a mutual option for 2028.
Speaking after her move, Stella reiterates her readiness and excitement to join the NWSL side. “I’m beyond excited to be joining Gotham FC and stepping into a new chapter of my career”.
“I can’t wait to play on a team that has been so successful over recent seasons and alongside some incredible players that I have watched from afar. I’m ready to work hard and embrace the challenge ahead. See you all soon,” she said.
The Dreamz Ladies midfielder captained the Black Princesses at the U-20 Women’s World Cup which was staged in Colombia.
She scored 2 goals and made one assist. She has also made her maiden appearances for the senior national team against Mali earlier this year.
Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West is highly impressed with Stella’s style of play.
In her view, “Stella is an exciting player, and her ceiling is very high”. “Her success this past year has been fantastic, and we are happy to have her here in NJ/NY.”
When she was 16, the midfielder secured the Ghana Football Association (GFA) License D Coaching Course as the youngest female participant.
