Former Minister of Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said God ensured the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections.
Speaking on TV3 he said “There is a dimension to this victory that many are not talking about, the God factors.
“You cannot win this type of election without divine providence. There was a God factor and I would like to thank the almighty God for this victory, all the Men of God played several roles, prophets, and evangelists and many of them.”
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah also has saluted key personalities including Stan Dogbe, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Madam Valerie Sawyer, and Julius Debrah for the exceptional work they did to ensure victory for the National Democratic Congress.
He indicated that the NDC adopted a robust and effective campaign strategy including merging its IT and Election directorate, to win the election.
Speaking on TV3 Thursday, December 12, the former Director of Elections for the NDC said “Everybody campaigned, and we have to commend Dr Omane Boamah and the team. One of the most strategic things that the party did was to combine the elections at the IT directorate.
“I was the election director but not the IT director so I didn’t even know the part or what the IT people were doing, it was a major problem and we made recommendations, thankfully the party took it on by bringing the two together to give [Dr Omane Boamah] an overview of what he was doing on, they did an excellent job together with the team.
‘There are many more people, including Julius Debrah, I can’t mention all, but my brother Stan Dogbe’s production, live coverage and set-up, were absolutely amazing. He deserves commendation. Madam Valerie Sawyer was supporting candidates and resolving conflicts and of course the communications team.’
Meanwhile, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has warned prospective appointees in his incoming administration, urging them to avoid seeking government positions if they are unprepared to work diligently.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and his delegation on Thursday, December 12, Mahama stressed that Ghanaians expect effective and accountable leadership, adding that there is no room for complacency or unproductiveness in his government.
“Ghanaians are slow to react and if they have enough of you, they will punish you. So, I want to urge those who are aspiring to work with the new government, that it is not going to be easy, or business as usual.
“It is going to be hard work. So, if you are not prepared to work hard and to sacrifice for Ghana, then you better stay in the private sector.”
