Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah has blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He accused President Akufo-Addo of putting up terrible leadership over the past 8 years.
In a post on his X page, he said “The defeat is just humiliating. It’s a clear message from the people that they are wiser & can’t be taken for granted. For those who kept defending the terrible leadership of Akufo-Addo, you see how far he has brought the NPP. I hope the NDC will learn & not misbehave in power.”

Sulemana Braimah however commended the presidential candidate of the New NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his posture and the manner in which he received the defeat of the party.
He noted that Dr Bawumia put up a great fight against all odds.
“Kudos to you, Dr. Bawumia. You have demonstrated nobility with your great concession speech. Against all odds, you put up a great fight. Wishing you the very best.”

During his concessional address, Vice President Dr Bawumia assured President-elect, John Dramani Mahama that the NPP would not be a destructive opposition.
In an address to the nation on Sunday, December 8, Dr Bawumia said “we will not be destructive opposition even though we will subject the next government to strict scrutiny. We will regroup and come back stronger.”
Dr Bawumia also congratulated the NDC for winning the parliamentary election as well.
He said “Let me say the data indicate former president Mahama has won the presidential election decisively.
“The NDC has also won the parliamentary elections even though we await the final collation of seats.
“I just called HE John Mahama to congratulate him.”
He said he assured “Mr Mahama of full support in the transition process so that the government business would continue seamlessly.”
