The Vice President-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has charged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ready themselves for an arduous task ahead.
She said the task ahead can only be achieved if everyone comes on board.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s remarks marked the end of a challenging campaign and the beginning of a new chapter for Ghana.
“The journey is over; the work is about to begin,” she stated on December 9 with a tone of determination and hope.
Reflecting on the significance of her nomination and subsequent victory, she noted, “My nomination has so many implications. This victory is for all of us, especially for our daughters, youth, and mothers.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang pledged to serve as a trailblazer, emphasizing her commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
“I will hold the door open, ensuring others can wish to travel through that door. This position is not just about me—it is a position that empowers others,” she said.
Acknowledging the importance of gender equity in nation-building, she stressed, “This country is not going to be built by half the gender, and they know very well.”
She called on all Ghanaians to contribute in their respective capacities, saying, “I am counting on all of you to work hard in your spaces.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang wished blessings upon the nation, its children, and future generations.
“I wish blessings on our country, on our children, on those here and yet to be born,” she declared, reinforcing her vision for a united and progressive Ghana.
