Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed dissatisfaction with Kurt Okraku’s leadership, stating that the current administration has not performed well since Okraku took over.
Nyantakyi, who led the GFA for over a decade before stepping down amid corruption allegations and a subsequent FIFA ban, criticised the direction of Ghanaian football under Okraku’s tenure.
Okraku, elected in 2019 and re-elected unopposed in 2023, has faced significant challenges, including poor performances from the national teams.
The Black Stars have endured back-to-back early exits from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and recently failed to qualify for AFCON 2025.
While Okraku’s administration can point to the team’s qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the campaign ended in the group stage.
“Football is like pregnancy, and we can all see that all is not well with our game,” Nyantakyi said on Lawson FM.
“Kurt Okraku’s administration is not doing well, and that is the truth. I don’t know what is wrong, but we can all see that things are not going right.”
Nyantakyi also highlighted the frequent coaching changes under Okraku, noting that the GFA has appointed several coaches in five years.
Current head coach Otto Addo is under pressure after the AFCON 2025 qualification failure, with calls for his removal growing louder.
“In five years, the current GFA has appointed five coaches, which is not a sign of a stable administration. These frequent changes have not helped,” he added.
