The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, has justified why a vote for the party’s parliamentary candidate for Shama, Emelia Arthur, will guarantee significant development in the constituency.
He reminded constituents of the transformation Shama experienced during Emelia Arthur’s tenure as District Chief Executive (DCE) and urged them to reward her accordingly.
“You witnessed how, under her tenure as DCE, the issue of accommodation challenges for government workers was effectively addressed with the provision of bungalows. It was during her time that the crime rate in Shama drastically reduced after she facilitated the construction of the District Police Station,” he stated.
“You will also recall how people repeatedly lost their properties to fires due to the absence of a fire service station. It was Emelia Arthur who ensured that the district got a fire station,” he told journalists in Shama while on a tour of the Western Region on December 5.
He further highlighted how over 17 communities in Shama that were previously in “stark darkness” were connected to the national grid during her administration.
“Beyond that, under her leadership, many women became financially independent, new businesses emerged, and existing ones flourished. The fishing industry underwent significant restructuring, creating numerous job opportunities for the people of Shama,” he added.
“This is Emelia Arthur’s track record, and the people of Shama should have no doubt but rather confidence and trust that their votes will be well-invested in her candidature.”
According to him, the benefits of having Emelia Arthur serve in the next Mahama administration, and the resulting gains for Shama, are immeasurable.
“Emelia Arthur has direct and unfettered access to John Dramani Mahama. Imagine what this will mean if she becomes the Member of Parliament for Shama, especially in terms of securing projects and jobs for the youth,” he said.
