The Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Takoradi Constituency, Justice Acquah, is confident that the party will retain all its parliamentary seats in the Sekondi-Takoradi and Effia-Kwesimintsim areas.
He further asserts that the party’s parliamentary fortunes will improve, projecting that it will capture 14 out of the 17 seats in the region in the upcoming parliamentary election.
Mr. Acquah’s confidence, he explains, is based on what he describes as the “unprecedented development witnessed over the past eight years under the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration.” He believes this will serve as the party’s “trump card.”
“The Effia-Nkwanta Hospital is now being upgraded to a teaching hospital. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the number of health facilities across the constituencies. This emphasis on healthcare stems from the understanding that a healthy population is essential for productivity. Even in areas where people did not vote for the NPP, they have still benefited from these developments,” he said.
He added, “Road construction is at an all-time high, with a focus on strategically important areas to facilitate the easy movement of goods and services.”
“Look at the Market Circle, the Interchange, and the Port Expansion. These projects are aimed at ensuring financial stability for all,” he noted.
Speaking to journalists in Takoradi he said, “Saturday’s election will be a thanksgiving event for Ghanaians, an opportunity to show their appreciation to the NPP for keeping faith with them.”
He dismissed the suggestion that it “will be impossible to capture the Wassa East, Jomoro, Prestea-Huni Valley, and Ellembelle seats,” insisting that those seats would “fall” after Saturday’s election.
“In Prestea-Huni Valley, we won the presidential election, which shows that the parliamentary loss was due to a ‘skirt and blouse’ voting pattern. We have corrected our mistakes. In Jomoro, we have done our best. Has there even been a two-term MP there before? The dynamics favor us this time, and we will win. It will shock people what will happen in Ellembelle.”
“A lot has been done and is still being done, and I am convinced that Ghanaians will vote to retain the NPP to continue its good work,” he concluded.
