Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu says the Secretary General for Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana, Joshua Ansah is not fit for his position.
He claims the TUC Secretary General does not have the energy to work efficiently as expected.
Joshua Ansah received an overwhelming endorsement to replace Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah as substantive Secretary General for the Trades Union Congress during their elections in August.
He contested the elections unopposed and got endorsed at TUC’s 12th quadrennial conference at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region after serving as a Deputy Secretary General.
Martin Kpebu, reacting to Organized Labour’s decision to suspend its much-anticipated nationwide strike on Onua FM’s Etifi Nsem show, Saturday October 12, expressed disappointment in the leadership of TUC.
He frowned on the Trades Union’s decision and slammed Joshua Ansah for failing to unite their members to strike against illegal mining activities in the country.
“The decision taken by leadership of the organized labour is totally bad; and if you look at Joshua Ansah you could see that he is old, weak and does not have the energy and I don’t think he is strong for the position of Secretary General of the TUC”.
“TUC needs a vibrant, energetic and enthusiastic person but Ansah doesn’t have the energy to fight,” Martin Kpebu reiterated.
On the issue of military deployment to mining communities to combat illegal mining activities, the legal practitioner pleaded with the military command to be decorous in dealing with their operations.
He has kicked against the most touted shoot to kill approach in dealing with the galamsey menace and prayed the government will rather deploy the police to lead the operation instead of the military.
He similarly urged the military to confiscate the excavators and other machines used by the miners instead of destroying them, stressing that it is inimical and unlawful.
