AmaZulu FC confirm signing of Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori

South African side AmaZulu FC have officially announced the signing of Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori on a permanent deal.

The 30-year-old, who was a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Orlando Pirates, is set to strengthen AmaZulu’s goalkeeping unit for the ongoing season in the South African Premiership.

Ofori, who previously featured for both Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United, expressed his joy at returning to KwaZulu Natal.

Speaking after the move, the former Black Stars shot-stopper said, “I’m thrilled to be back in KZN. It feels like home, and I’m eager to make a significant contribution to AmaZulu.”

Ofori praised the quality of the club’s goalkeeping department, emphasising the importance of teamwork.

“We have a fantastic group of goalkeepers at AmaZulu. Together, we’ll work as a team to support the club and achieve our objectives,” he added.

The experienced goalkeeper has had a challenging period in his career due to injuries, which saw him miss the 2022 World Cup. He also faced a low point after a costly error led to Ghana’s early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Now at AmaZulu, Ofori is determined to regain his form and win more minutes on the field. His experience and resilience make him a valuable addition as the club eyes success in the league this season.
