One of the leaders of the Democracy Hub protesters, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been arrested by the police.
His arrest follows the alleged acts of lawlessness during the demonstration near the 37 military hospital. The protest is against the menace of galamsey activities destroying the various rivers in the country.
A statement released by the police said Barker-Vormawor was apprehended for “various unlawful acts he was involved in on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22 at the 37 intersection in Accra.”
Police had on Sunday declared a manhunt for Barker-Vormawor for his “unlawful act” during the protest on Saturday and Sunday.

However, he dismissed the police claim that he’s been hiding. In a Facebook post on Monday, the activist said “has been in consistent communication with senior officers within the Police hierarchy regarding my whereabouts and availability.”
He described the manhunt against him as as “baseless and misleading.”
The police said it has so far arrested 42 of the Democracy Hub protesters for engaging in unlawful demonstration after a court injunction has been secured against some routes to be used by the protesters.
