Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori is set to join South African side AmaZulu FC on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old is set to undergo a medical in Durban before finalising his move, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career in South African football.
Ofori, who was released by Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2023/24 season, brings significant experience to AmaZulu’s goalkeeping department.
He previously played for both Maritzburg United and Pirates, where he won three MTN8 trophies and two Nedbank Cups, becoming a key figure in the league.
His arrival at AmaZulu will provide valuable competition for the number one spot, with Ofori expected to challenge Bafana Bafana’s Veli Mothwa, as well as Olwethu Mzimela and Andile Mbajwa. This move adds depth to the squad as the team looks to strengthen for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Ofori’s last appearance for the Ghana national team was during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and his addition is expected to bolster AmaZulu’s ambitions in the South African Premier League.
