Ghanaian artiste, Michael Adangba has opened up about his heart transplant surgery in South Africa and the struggles he experienced.
Michael in an interview on 3FM Drive with Giovani Caleb disclosed that he was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2014 where he was later transferred to the Cardio therapy department at Korle-Bu Teaching hospital.
The musician said he owed it all to God and business mogul, Ibrahim Mahama who assisted him financially all through his treatment and the surgery.
He said a heart pacemaker device has been inserted into his body which controls the speed at which his heart beats. The pacemaker device ensures his heart beats in the normal rythm.
Michael Adangba has been surviving with a pacemaker device for three months now.
“We are talking about millions of Ghana cedis. I don’t think somebody will do that. Everybody is crying about this economy. So, when I heard, we are going to theatre, I was shocked.
“They said they sorted it out and I had to cry for long. I did not know that somebody would look at my face and pay that kind of amount without thinking about it. I don’t know how to say thank you to him because till now I haven’t seen him,” he narrated.
“Mahama himself does not know that his brother has sent me to South Africa for treatment,” Adangba dispelled claims that Ibrahim Mahama’s assistance was because he composed songs for the NDC.
Michael Adangba used the opportunity to express gratitude to Ibrahim Mahama for his gesture.
He has released a new song, “Mapeneso” in appreciation to God for sparing his life after a near-death experience.
