The Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs. Doreen Annan has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) for including the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Business Regulatory Reforms initiative.
Speaking at a Public-Private Dialogue/Knowledge sharing session on Development Permit Administration, Mrs Doreen Annan said the initiative has provided technical support to the GNFS, enabling it to upgrade its website and develop a Fire Safety Permit and Certification Management System (FSP&CMS).
The FSP&CMS aims to automate and decentralise fire opinion reports, final approval, and certification processes. So far, 184 GNFS officers have been trained nationwide to use the system.
The Acting Chief Director emphasised the importance of leveraging technology to improve service delivery and meet international standards. She also stressed the need for extensive education and sensitisation on the new fire certificate application system to ensure public awareness.
The event was organised by MOTI and held at the Office of the Head of Local Government Service. Participating institutions included the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources and the Ghana Institute of Architects.
The Business Regulatory Reforms initiative aims to position Ghana as the most business-friendly economy in Africa. The Ministry of Interior has pledged its support for the initiative, recognising its contribution to the nation’s socio-economic growth and development.
