Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has touted his record as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana including the establishment of a national ID system and the introduction of national IDs at birth, along with birth certificates for all children.
During a media engagement in Accra on Sunday August 25, Dr Bawumai stated that the Akufo-Addo administration has done much better across virtually every sector than the previous Mahama government.
“When you look at how we are changing Ghana, and you look at the performance of the economy before we came into office, we are doing much better across virtually every sector than the man who wants to come back. So I am very proud of my record. I am very proud of it,” he stated.
“We’ve struggled with this for 60 years; it’s only under our government and with my initiative that we have a comprehensive digital address system,” he added.
Dr Bawumia further assured that the policy proposals in the NPP’s manifest will be implemented to revamp the economy.
He stated that “What this country needs is an upgrade, not reset. And if given the mandate, I will roll out the measures outlined in our recently launched manifesto to revamp the economy.”
Dr Bawumia told his opposite number in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) former President John Dramani Mahama to check his track record when he was in the office whenever he talks about economic mismanagement under the Akufo-Addo administration.
He said that he gets amazed sometimes when Mr Mahama talks about economic mismanagement.
“Sometimes I get amazed when former president Mahama talks about economic mismanagement. He should know his own record,” Dr Bawumia said.
