Black Stars forward Ernest Nuamah was replaced by Georges Mikautadze after 18 minutes with a suspected thigh injury in Lyon’s 2-0 defeat against Monaco on Saturday at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
The 20-year-old forward was seen clutching his thigh in what looks like a muscular problem.
The severity of the injury is however unknown as Nuamah remains hopeful to be in contention for Ghana’s doubleheader against Angola and Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The former Right to Dream and Nordsjaelland prodigy was on target in the last international window, scoring a thumping header at the far post as Ghana came from behind to beat Mali 2-1 in Bamako.
Nuamah completed a permanent move to Lyon ahead of the 2024-25 season after initially spending a season-long loan with the French outfit in the 2023-24 campaign.
Ghana take on Angola on September 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, before emplaning to Niger for their second group outing.
