Jordan Ayew’s time at Palace may have come to an end but his rapport with the fans is one which is admirable.
After his exit from Leicester was officially confirmed by Crystal Palace, fans of the club took turns to appreciate the player on social media.
“I am absolutely gutted to see Jordan Ayew go, still can’t quite believe it. He is one of my favourite players, I am always surprised by the stick he gets from some fans. I have always seen him as a top player who worked hard for the club and was a loyal, dedicated Palace player. I waited so many times with my partner to get his photo and autograph and did, so happy we did. You are a Palace legend Jordan, we will miss you, Mandy Sterlini,” a fan wrote on Facebook.
For Sam Richardson, he could not help but draw the parallels between Jordan and his father Abedi: “The son of Abedi Pele became a true Palace legend. Massively underrated by so many, his work rate and ability to win a foul was amazing! He gave his team and our fans so much.
Good luck and thank you”, he wrote
For Charlie Theofanous, Jordan’s commitment to playing for the badge has been undeniable since his capture: “This is actually stating to become a bit concerning. He got a lot of unjustified stick for his game play but Jordan always played for the shirt. I’m sad to see him go! A legend in my eyes!”
Peter Guildford echoed Ayew’s work-rate and desire to constantly improve: “Going to miss him. I must admit when we originally signed him I was less than optimistic. But boy has he proved me wrong over the years. A great servant to the club, always put in a shift and never complained (to my knowledge) once. Leicester are lucky to have him. Thanks for the memories Jordan, and all the best for the future.
Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish said: “Jordan has been outstanding and selfless in his service for Crystal Palace, both on and off the pitch, not just with his goals and assists, but his all-round play, dedication and willingness to do everything we have asked of him. He has provided a fantastic example to his teammates, young and old.”
Jordan’s former coach Roy Hodgson, was swooning over Ayew back in November last year: “He certainly is one of the most reliable and consistent players that we have,” he said
“You can always rely upon him to give you 100 per cent both in his attacking play and his defending play and I think, to be honest, as players often do, as they get older and more experienced, they bring further aspects to their game which makes them better still,” added Hodgson.
Jordan’s £8m move to Leicester sees him become the 6th Ghanaian to play for the Foxes.
