Ghana legend Rev. Osei Kofi has candidly confessed his past behaviour of womanising, attributing it to his exceptional talent on the football field.
Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest footballers of all time, Osei Kofi played a pivotal role in the country’s rich football history, helping to secure the Africa Cup of Nations titles in 1963 and 1965.
Osei Kofi revealed that his football skills attracted many women, a lifestyle he enjoyed at the time.
“In those days, we were not professionals but amateurs, so, as for women, I had many at that time. It was my talent that got me the women. If I didn’t go out, they would come. I am telling you the truth,” he said.
However, Osei Kofi’s life took a significant turn after an encounter with Christ. He has since refrained from his former lifestyle and is now devoted to his pastoral work.
“The Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I am a Christian, and through football, I became a pastor. So, it is the fear of God that is in me, because there were many things I was doing while playing football, but I have stopped. It’s not just Christianity, but it’s the reason I am still strong at age 84,” the Asante Kotoko legend shared.

Rev. Osei Kofi, now 84, is blessed with twelve children and a loving family. His football career remains illustrious; he was a joint top scorer in the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Tunis, leading Ghana to win the tournament for a second time.
He also was the third-highest scorer in the 1968 Africa Cup of Nations. Known as the ‘wizard dribbler’ for his ball-dribbling skills, Osei Kofi’s legacy in Ghanaian football is well cemented.
