The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has passionately appealed to residents in the Kusaug Traditional Area to accept all political parties who want to campaign in the area ahead of the December 7 polls.
During the outdooring of Bissa Chief in Pusiga, the Minister expressed concern about some youth groups of indigenes preventing supporters and parliamentary candidates of the governing party from campaigning in the traditional area.
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidates were also prevented from using the party paraphernalia for campaigning.
According to the Regional Minister, this is a big worry to the NPP, hence the resort to the traditional authorities for intervention.
The Kusaug Traditional Area comprises of six political and administrative districts in the Upper East Region.
He said, “supporters of the NPP are unable to use party paraphernalia in the area for fear of being attacked.”
He further stated that, Ghana is a democratic country, and every political party has the right to campaign without fear.
However, the Chairman of the Regional Security Council said the REGSEC has put measures in place to deal with any person or group of persons who perpetrate acts inimical to the peace of the region.
The newly enskinned Bissa Chief of Pusiga, Kir Salifu Mahama, pledged to use his role as to support the Divisional Chief of Pusiga and the District Assembly for development.
