Obuasi West Member of Parliament Kwaku Kwarteng has been appointed as the spokesperson for the newly established Economy Committee.
He is leaving his role as chair of the Finance Committee in Parliament.
This development comes after Kwaku Kwarteng, who currently chairs the Finance Committee, was accused of hindering the approval of tax waivers for companies under the One District One Factory policy.
In , The Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said presenting the business statement for the upcoming week that Kwaku Kwarteng will now serve as the majority caucus’ spokesperson on the Economy Committee.
“And so we are challenging you to come up with your spokesperson on the economy. You have not said so officially but we are going to make sure we have a spokesperson on the economy to challenge your Adongo. Hon Kwaku Kwarteng is going to face him directly on the Economy,”
“I am letting them [Minority] know some of the proactive steps we have taken on this side of the House to throw a serious challenge that it is not just about governance. We have a new Economy Committee and it is going to be the most important Committee in this House,”
