Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has opened up about the reasons behind her departure from Barcelona.
In February 2024, after 162 appearances, 117 goals, and multiple titles with the Spanish giants, the 29-year-old brought her Barcelona career to an end and moved to America.
Oshoala signed a contract with the San Francisco Bay Area-based club, Bay FC, through 2026, with an option to extend for the 2027 season. In an interview with FIFA, she revealed the reasons for her decision to make the move.
“I was very comfortable at Barcelona, but I wanted to experience being at the start of something new, as soon as I heard about the project at Bay FC, I was very excited. I love what I do, and I make decisions based on what makes me happy. It’s been pretty amazing here so far,” she said
The striker was happy to share how easily she had adopted to life in her new environment.
“There are a lot of nice African restaurants, so that keeps me going,” she added.
Oshoala will be leading Nigeria to their first Olympics since 2008 and believes she’s got what it takes to help the Super Falcons.
“I know what I can do, I know what I offer on and off the pitch. Even when I was at the best team in the world, I knew what I could contribute,” she further stated.
