The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom Constituency, Michael Kwasi Aidoo, has pledged his total commitment to initiate life-changing programs to reduce youth unemployment in the constituency.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9 FM, June 17 in Kumasi with Sir John, Michael Aidoo stressed that empowering the youth has always been one of his key plans for reducing unemployment and creating jobs in the area.
So far, he has trained 300 masters and apprentices at Appiedu Community Centre.
The NPP Oforikrom Constituency Parliamentary candidate said he has sent five people on scholarship to 2nd Image to benefit from training in cosmetology, and other entrepreneurial skills.
This year, he has sent another five for training in various fields.
According to him, he has secured a six-month training scholarship for masters and apprentices at 2nd Image to polish their skills.
Based on this, he recently donated 80 sewing machines to the Oforikrom Branch of the Ghana Taylors and Dressmakers Association during their graduation.
The initiative is aimed at empowering the youth in the constituency to be financially self-reliant and empower others.
It is also aimed at reducing the youth unemployment situation in the area.
With his new initiative, he selects only committed individuals so that they could complete the course.
“I have learned a lot of lessons in the previous program I did and this time around, we have picked young men and women who are very committed and have promised to be trained,” a trainee said.
He pledged that he would organise workshops for them on time management and accounting periodically.
