Kwame Jantuah, a private legal practitioner and a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take any evidence in their possession regarding the ongoing ambulance purchase trial to court instead of organising a press conference.
Following the accusations levelled against the Attorney-General by the third accused, Richard Jakpa, the NDC, in a statement on Thursday, signed by its National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, noted that they’re scandalised by attempts of the government to “persecute” Dr. Ato Forson.
The party, among other things, noted that it will hold a full-blown press conference early next week and put out “incontrovertible evidence on this matter” that, according to the NDC, “will shock the nation.”
But the private legal practitioner speaking on TV3 New Day on Friday, May 24, maintained that the NDC’s approach would “muddy the waters,” allowing politicians to feed into the case that is pending before the court.

“The Attorney-General has come and put out a statement, so it that is the case bring the evidence out in open court and let’s see who is speaking the truth or who is lying,” he said, arguing that “somebody’s life is on the line and everybody is innocent until proven guilty.
“Let me say something about the NDC and their press conference, the case is still in court if you have any evidence towards this case, take it to court I don’t think you should have a press conference when a case is actually live in court.

“What are you going to say to add to it? For me it adjudicates. The case is in court. After the case may be but if you feel you have evidence against the attorney-general and that evidence can help the client, give it to the client’s lawyer and let it proceed in court. Let all of us see because going to have a press conference is just going to muddy the waters and the politicians are now going to play football with it.” he stated.
