Robert Klah, the Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), has disclosed detailed information about petitions from some artistes regarding nominations for the TGMA.
Mr. Klah told TV3 in an interview that the board has completed reviewing the petitions from the various artistes and will soon provide feedback to the public.
“There has been a number of petitions made to the board. Some are not in the public space because the artistes have not come to share it. The information has gone to the board so they are doing their review. Feedback to the public will come out soon,” he said on TV3’s New Day, April 12.
The one-week window that was opened on March 29 to allow artistes with concerns to petition the TGMA board has now been closed.
Mr. Klah assured that only petitions with merit will pass the scrutiny of the board.
It is sad that some people did not provide enough information and others did. Some people have come back with petitions using current streaming numbers when we cut off the streaming numbers on December 31 which means they have added like three months to it.
That is why we are saying that if you believe there is any merit and you make your submission if we go back to the system and look into everything and there is a reason why some change should be made, it will be made but if it isn’t the board will stick to its word,” he added.
After the 2024 TGMA nominee list was unveiled, concerns were raised by artists like Amerado and Sista Afia who felt their songs deserved a particular nomination.
Other artistes followed suit and have petitioned the TGMA board.
